Bare trees, Ibaraki, Japan.

On a hike at Mt Tsukuba not far from Tokyo I came across these trees and loved the gnarly shapes. I always see art in Nature and landscapes and feel compelled to photograph them when I see beauty. The patterns are like sculptural forms. As a photographer I love capturing these things as a form of meditation.

Landscape Photography, Kawasaki Industrial area.

As a part of my ongoing Tokyo Industrial photo series I have been out shooting landscapes in the Keihin industrial areas. These areas have a really interesting light and feeling with the factories working 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is quiet and empty at nighttime and an interesting world to roam.

As an art series these large format photographic landscapes or nightscapes represent the world that man has created. The future of year on year growth in consumption.

Travel Photography, Shibuya Scramble Square, Tokyo, Japan.

Whilst shooting a travel editorial for the Virgin inflight magazine we visited the new Shibuya Sky viewing deck on top of the Shibuya Scramble building. It is a great view for photographing cityscapes of Tokyo and seeing this massive city. It is the perfect place to see the sunset and to see the glow of Tokyo come to life.

Travel Photography, The Last Class, Echigo Tsumari, Nigata, Japan.

Hello, World!

The Last class is one of the best art installations I have seen. It reminded me of a scene from a Murakami book as I walked along the dark hallways and booming sound emanated from a pitch black room that I was compelled to walk into. I felt like I was going to be swallowed up by some dark force. It was completely terrifying and intriguing at the same time. A must see if you get the chance to go.

Landscape Photography Hakuba, Nagano, Japan

One of the reasons I love Japan is for the mountains. I love snowboarding and exploring the mountains where you can see the forces of nature at work. Hakuba is a great place for a holiday in Summer and Winter. It has a multitude of outdoor activities and is a great place for photography.
